Theo Deboick, Maker

Theo Deboick, Maker

Theo Deboick is a Maker operating from his workshop in Leigh-on-Sea. Working in myriad materials, his practise is born out of his love for aesthetic objects.

Q&A:

When did you decide to become a Maker and what materials do you work with...

I have always enjoyed arts and crafts, which led to my first job in an art gallery. This is where I discovered my aptitude for working with wood and metal in the gallery's workshop. I then decided to set up my own workshop where I currently work with wood, metal, glass, leather, fabric, foam, and plastic.

How do you find inspiration for your work...

I look to other makers whose work and skill I admire. Aspiring to be as proficient as them is tremendously inspiring.

If you could make anything what would it be...

My grand plan is to design and build my own timber frame workshop; including making all the doors & windows and stained glass windows.

Is there anything you won’t make...

There isn't anything that I wouldn't make. It's the things that I can't make which I want to make most of all.

How can people get in touch with you and see your work...
